FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT IS FORESTRY MULCHING?

  • Forestry mulching is a method of land clearing that uses a single machine to shred, cut and level vegetation only leaving behind a layer of mulch. The "teeth" on this machine make it extremely useful in quickly eliminating brush in wooded areas, controlling overgrowth and simply cleaning up your property. Forestry mulching can be used for a variety of projects commercially and residentially such as:

    • Trail Creation

    • Invasive Species Control

    • Wildfire Prevention and Management

    • Site Preparation

    • Storm Damage Clean Up

    • Land and Brush Clearing.

  • By using this machine, we can remove your unwanted brush and trees much more quickly than other methods while limiting the disturbance to soils or the vegetation that you wish to keep on your property. Also unlike traditional land clearing methods, forestry mulching actually aids in preventing erosion. With mulching, the soil structure is left intact acting as an erosion barrier while nutrients return to the soil.

WHY USE FORESTRY MULCHING?  VALUE & EFFICIENCY.

There are three options to clearing trees and brush from your property:

  1. A Forestry Mulcher with one operator that can reduce the biomass into a mulch that remains as a nutrient for the soil, excellent erosion control, or a substrate for driving on.  A Tracked Mulcher or Excavator with a Forestry Mulcher attachment has a low equipment/operator cost, and a low time cost.

  2. Hand cutting with chainsaws and operators and some methods of gathering the cut material and disposing of it.  Hand cutting has low equipment costs, but extremely high Labor cost. (can be up to $9,000/Acre)

  3. A bulldozer to push trees over, a loader to load trees onto trucks for disposal, haul trucks, and operators for all equipment.  Bulldozing method has high equipment/operator costs, and high time costs because moving material multiple times.

BOTTOM LINE:  ONE MACHINE + ONE OPERATOR + HIGH PRODUCTION = LOW COST TO YOU

  • The best part of all – no haul off!

  • Hauling off is costly

  • Bulldozers can harm keeper trees

  • Burning Permits are a pain, and not allowed in many places

  • Effective & optimal use of resources

  • Low ground pressure of 4.25 psi protects soil & roots

  • Resulting mulched biomass provides superior erosion protection and nutrients back into the soil

  • All stumps and stems are mulched flush with ground; can be immediately driven over, mowed, or planted with grass

ARE THERE ANY SPECIAL PERMITS NEEDED TO COMPLETE THE WORK?

  • Unlike other traditional clearing methods using machines to clear land, no special permits are required for forestry mulching. If you live in an area that is under forestry preservation you might need to check to make sure you can have some of the area cleared.

WHEN CAN THE LAND BE USED?

  • The land can be used immediately. There are no large holes or mess left behind like other land clearing methods.

WHY IS FORESTRY MULCHING A SOUGHT AFTER PROPERTY CLEARING METHOD?

  • Forestry mulching is quickly becoming one of the most sought-after property clearing strategies available. Landowners are simply amazed that a single piece of equipment can transform their land of scrubby, overgrown and unusable land into attractive and marketable real estate in a single day. Property owners, realtors, and contractors are also elated to learn that forestry mulching can be done year round and usually without permitting. Forestry mulching is the perfect one-step solution.
